What is Dewsbury Shariah Council?

The Dewsbury Shariah Council is an esteemed body of recognized and qualified Islamic scholars hailing from both the UK and Pakistan. Committed to the principles of the Qur’an and the authentic Sunnah, this council serves as a primary source of Islamic jurisprudence. It adheres to the judicial heritage of the Prophet’s companions and follows the legal rulings and methodology of established classical normative Muslim scholarship.

Beyond its engagement within the Muslim community, the Dewsbury Shariah Council is a trusted authority approached by institutions, organizations, and individuals from diverse ethnic and religious backgrounds. They seek expert opinions on a wide spectrum of issues such as social, theological, cultural, political, and academic matters, all in accordance with Islamic law.

Strengthening ties with UK government ministries, departments, and organizations by providing guidance on Islamic matters and fostering mutual understanding.
Collaborating with religious and social institutions across the UK to address shared concerns and promote unity.
Establishing productive relationships with media organizations to enhance communication and representation.
Developing websites and email distribution systems to facilitate quick and efficient access to Islamic and community information.
Publishing a monthly newsletter or magazine to keep our community informed and engaged.
Broadcasting TV and radio programs across Canadian media to reach a wider audience.
Organizing lectures, seminars, rallies, gatherings, and meetings to educate, inspire, and bring people together.

Our Work and Past Projects

Resolve Disputes: Providing guidance and mediation in matters such as marriage, divorce, inheritance, and other personal or communal concerns within the Muslim community.
Strengthen Interfaith Engagement: Holding full membership in various Inter-Faith Committees, actively collaborating with federal, provincial, and municipal governments, and offering Chaplaincy services in correctional facilities and hospitals.
Represent Islam on a Global Stage: Advocating for Islam and the Muslim community through participation in numerous local and international events, programs, and conferences.
Educate and Train Future Leaders: Offering specialized training on Islamic principles for Chaplaincy students, equipping them with the knowledge to serve effectively.
Advise Law Enforcement: Serving as a trusted advisor on Islamic matters to national and local law enforcement agencies, fostering cultural awareness and cooperation.
Promote Sensitivity and Understanding: Conducting training sessions for government bodies and public institutions to enhance interfaith dialogue, mutual respect, and inclusivity.
